Sea are We !

by JR HagerAll life was born from the oceans and this is our inheritance.

The poet, Thomas Traherne wrote, " You never enjoy the World aright, till the sea itself floweth in your veins." Well I say the sea is already there in our bodies. 70.8 percent of the Earth's surface is ocean, and, hang on to your tanned babe now, the same proportions pertains to your body. Do I hear a, WHOA ?

Our human life began in it's own small 'undersea world' of the amniotic sac. We started breathing through 'gills' for nine months in our mother's ocean in her belly. Then her waters burst us out to a life on this strange shore to be jettisoned for the rest of the time, until we do it all again. We cried until our tears flowed in our mouth, then we were calmed and comforted by the taste of salt, the taste of home. Could this be why we love the taste of salt?

The elderly, like the teenagers during their spring break, are drawn to the seaside for sustenance, if not a reminiscent embrace with their beginnings when they were young. Of course there is certainly no generation-gap, we all flow the same way and from the same sea to the same shore and back again.
The moon fluctuates high and low tide just as it affects our moods as well as the desire to have sex. It is still debatable if humans have more sex during the full moon, but it is certain that more babies are born during the full moon phase than any other time.

In nature most animal species mate during the full moon. Full moon serves in some cases indirectly as the cause (for instance through the high water levels during the tides that the horseshoe crab uses to deposit its eggs) or also as the signal for both sexes of a species to begin at the exact same time to safeguard their future existence. It is understood that wolves also are led by full moon when it is time to mate, and thus the reason for their howl. These same forces affect the water content of the soil, creating more moisture in the soil at the time of the new and full moon. This increased moisture encourages the seeds to sprout and grow. Does it also encourage the human women to have sex at this time?

There has always been the perception of water as fertility. "Offspring" is the metaphor for children. The Egyptian author Pliny has written that if a women drinks from the offspring - giving Nile it helped women conceive more children. The 'Rainbow Snake' from the Aborigines was associated with both water and fertility.

Nasal cleansing, or ayurvedic technique from ancient India, cannot be accomplished unless it is done with salt water. Flushing the nasal cavity with salt water will promote mucociliary clearance by moisturizing the nasal cavity and by removing encrusted material in the nose. Salt water solution is an anti-bacterial irrigant. The flow of salt water through the nasal passage flushes out dirt, airborne allergens (dust and pollen), pollutants and bacteria-filled mucus. Also salt water is recommended for any kind of douche recipe be it anal or vaginal.

Bet you're going to head to the sea soon........sea, told ya ! .....Sea are We.
