Off
the top of my head there's one that I feel like I grew-up with, and
feel he's the father of all this 'far-out' stuff, other than the Shamans
of the world and of course Nostradamus, why yes, Edgar Cayce. Most of you probably thought of the same person. We must be psychics! Or we share the same age and/or literacy.
The first I heard that name was in the late sixties (or so) when I was just approaching the 'teen years' of my life. My parents and I had sighed up for a course called 'Mind Dynamics,' and sure enough the place was "full of the crazies," as my father put it.
We were new in the area and it was my Mother's idea to get us out and meet with the others who lived in the development called, Panther Valley. One of the best ideas my Mother had, and just in time. Dad had started to teach himself Yoga and I was getting into meditation thanks to the Beatles visit to Mahesh Yogi. Or was it the other way around?
It always seemed that way in my life; I would start doing something or thinking about something different or out of the main-stream, and before I knew it other people or celebrities started doing it. Meditation and Yoga seemed this way as did vegetarianism, taking vitamins and working-out.
There, at the first class of Mind Dynamics, a person brought her book collection of Edgar Cayce. She displayed them everyday she came to class. And, with every person she met with any sickness and/or abnormality or a disease with their relatives or friends or acquaintance that came to the surface in conversation, she went to her books for the answer to their problems. She instinctively knew what book and what chapter and page to find it. She was as busy as the teacher.
Mind Dynamics was simply a way to connect 'you the mind' to 'you the body' with easy exercises of self-visualization and discovery. I and my family owe it to Mind Dynamics for showing us, and proving to us that there is something special going on in our bodies and minds. We were never the same afterwards and to this day continue to think 'out of the box' not only with medicine and doctors but also with day to day life as well as spiritually and politically. We learned that our bodies want to be healthy and whole as much as we want it to be, and we need not to look 'on the outside' for all the answers. And also, and probably more important, we learned and witnessed that we to have the gift to perform these miracles, or how I put it earlier; this far-out' stuff.
One lesson, and there were many that blew me away, was at the end of one of the classes. To this day it still gives me pause and reminds me, when doubt sticks it's ugly head in my business, that I am as gifted as I let myself be. The teacher, his name was Nick, showed us a hat before we left and told us that their are pieces of paper with numbers on them in the hat. He told us that the numbers are from '1' to '30' (there were thirty of us) and we each have a different number. He said the next time we meet you will pick a number out of the hat. He told us to go home and think about what number we are going to pick from the hat. Immediately after he said this the number '4' shot into my head.
After class, and on the way home, more numbers rolled into my 'brain pan.' By the time I got back to class the next week several numbers were rolling around in my head like in a bingo ball cage. I'm not even sure anymore what number I told Nick before I reached in the hat, but it wasn't the number I took out of the hat. You know what number I took out of the hat, and I should have known to stick with my initial number that came from the heart. It went to show me forever more that my first thought is usually right, and I should have trusted myself instead of analyzing it until it doesn't exist anymore.
